ADVICE FOR BEST RESULTS WHEN FIXING SCREWS:
We recommend a clearance hole to be drilled in the decking board or fencing slat which allows the screw to pass through easily. The screw should only 'bite' into the support structure, not the material being fixed to it.
Our #10 Starborn Smart-Bit Pre-drilling Countersink Bit performs this action in one operation.
Should your supporting structure be a hardwood or very dense material, a pilot hole should be drilled here too.
For a professional finish, countersink the hole to accommodate the screw head.
Set the screws to the same depth using a drill-driver with torque control.
